Sacred Heart Convent, a leading girls’ school in the South, turned 125 years on 24th November 2021 in its magnificent journey.

Mother SHC celebrated its proud legacy of 125 years leading with the theme of “125 Years Together and Forever”.

In 1896 five pioneering sisters founded Sacred Heart Convent in Galle with just seven students.

Quasquicentennial celebration was held on 24th November 2021 at the Centenary Hall. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Very Rev. Fr. Charles Hewawasam, Vicar General of Galle Diocese while Rev. Sr.Ajitha Fernando, Mother Provincial, Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary and Dr. W.W. Gamage, Hon. Governor of Southern Province graced this occasion as Guests of Honour .

A commemorative postage stamp marking this memorable occasion was issued as a part of the event.

With 125 years of glory and grandeur Sacred Heart Convent proudly steps into another golden era by transmitting her legacy to the future.
