Western Band

History

• Sacred Heart Convent Western Band was established in 1967. The first band leader was Rathnakanthi Padmanadan.
• The first orchestra was held in 1996.

Year 2005
 

• Melody of Heartians was held on 13th of May and it was conducted by Shenali Ranaweera, the Western Band leader of 2004.
• In 2005 the Western Band participated in Galle District band display competition organized by the Leads International School, Galle. Sacred Heart Convent Western Band was awarded the 3rd place. It was led by Dinushika Illeperuma.

Year 2006

• The band show “Rhythem of Youth” was held on 19th of January at the school centenary hall, organized by the 2007 A/L students of the Western Band.
• The Western Band was conducted by Dinushika Illeperuma.

Year 2007

• Melody of Heartians was held in 16th of March 2007 at the school centenary hall organized by the members of the school Western Band. It was conducted by Lewmini S. Vithanage.

Year 2008

• In 2008 the Western Band participated in the Marians Band Fiesta organized by St. Mary’s Convent, Matara. “The best band of the year 2008” trophy was obtained by the SHC band which was conducted by Anoopa Waththuhewa.
• “Melody Of Heartians blooms with 70’s" was held on 29th April and it was conducted by  Anoopa Waththuhewa.
